Description

Join us for our special Commemorative Plaque Unveiling for Inter-City Studios, the forerunner of the world famous Strawberry Recording Studios, originally located above the Neild and Hardy music store on Great Underbank.
Our special guests for the unveiling and tour will be Peter Tattersall, who founded Inter-City Studios in 1967 and Dr Peter Wadsworth, the curator of the Strawberry Studios exhibition.
The tour will meet at Stockport Museum at midday and start with a look around the Strawberry Studios exhibition. The tour will then visit the commemorative plaques at the sites of Hologram Studios on Park Street and The Sinking Ship at Royal Oak Yard where The Jimi Hendrix Experience played in 1967.
The tour will take in the ‘Jimi Hendrix’ and ‘Unknown Pleasures’ street art murals on Great Underbank before arriving at the site of Inter-City Studios where the commemorative plaque has been installed on the wall of the Nat West Bank, where Neild and Hardy music store used to stand. John will introduce Dr Peter Wadsworth to say a few words about the importance of Inter-City Studios and its development into Strawberry Studios. We will then hear from the founder of Inter-City and Strawberry Studios, Peter Tattersall and his recollections of starting the studio in 1967.
After the unveiling, the tour will then convene at Alfredo’s Social on Little Underbank where a reception will be held upstairs with an opportunity to meet and talk to our special guests. Ticket price includes a large slice of pizza at the reception (drinks are not included).
Please allow three hours for this event. We anticipate to arrive at Alfredo’s Social for the reception around 2pm. Places are limited.
