A unique celebration of Stockport’s musical history from the 1960’s to the present day featuring songs made famous by artists who recorded at the iconic Strawberry Studios, including 10cc, Joy Division, Buzzcocks, The Smiths and Neil Sedaka, performed by up-and-coming local bands, musicians and artists.
Strawberry Studios Forever’ is a celebration of the music produced at the iconic Strawberry Recording Studios in Stockport, with eleven cover versions giving a fresh new approach to classic tracks. Presented in an impressive gatefold sleeve with red vinyl, the album features stunning illustration, archive photography and sleeve notes from Peter Tattersall, the founder of Strawberry Studios, Dr Peter Wadsworth, the Strawberry Studios archivist and Clint Boon of the Inspiral Carpets, who has recorded his own interpretation of Neil Sedaka’s ’Solitaire’ for the album.
‘Strawberry Studios Forever’ also features inspired cover versions of songs by 10cc, Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, Happy Mondays, Buzzcocks, The Charlatans, Inspiral Carpets, The Mock Turtles and Godley and Creme, all performed by young artists from Stockport and produced by Kyle Ross and George Fitzgibbon at Orange Peel studios in Pear Mill, Stockport.
An exceptional commemorative package, ‘Strawberry Studios Forever’ takes its reference from Eric Stewart’s favourite Beatles’ song, ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ that was the inspiration behind the naming of the studio and continues the legacy that Peter Tattersall and 10cc started at 3 Waterloo Road, nurturing new talent for the next generation.
